New Stereo installed today.
Daniel Amos’ “Fearful Symmetry CD” inserted.
Music blooms into ears.
Switch to radio station. “Sizzzlelllescressssss/” whispers from speakers.
Sam must fix this weekend.
Fearful Symmetry booms again….
INSTRUCTION THROUGH FILM LYRICS
Dad: (To the sound of a harp)
And so the angel told Tom if he’d be a good boy
He’d have God for his father and never lack joy.
Goodnight, Tom, sleep tight, Tom.
(Rock music with a big latin beat starts)
These are not deeds that save you
For love is the fire that must claim you
Whispered half-prayers in the night
Turn off the lamp and you turn out the light….
Daniel Amos Sam’s favorite forgotten band.
Band defies genres.
Labelled “Gospel” and “Contemporary Christian Music.”
Started out as Country Jesus Music. Ended up post-modern rock with edgy, well-written lyrics. Lyrics poetry when music taken away.
Sam waits on another favorite CD to arrive – “Darn Floor, Big Bite.”
Koko the signing Gorilla inspired album’s name. After earthquake, Koko used sign language to sign “Darn, darn floor. Big bite. Trouble, trouble.”
Album title an analogy to how man understands God.
That’s enough plugging for favorite band.
