Folks, what’s not to get about effective “evangelizing?”
You don’t “lead” a person to Jesus, you guide them.
And you sure as hell don’t push them - pun intended.
I’m going off on what I’m reading on another blog that I promised myself I wouldn’t post a comment on for at least a week.
It’s over there in my [...]

Musical meanderings
Where do we draw the line on what we Christians can listen to as far as music?
Does God have a problem with song lyrics like “I like big butts…”?
I’m not sure about God’s view on that, but those type of lyrics do tend to make me uncomfortable.
So I tend to go with what I’m comfortable [...]

Top 10 ways Christians succeed
Just to get something out on my blog before I lose the last three readers I wanted to put out some positive findings about Christians.
The aim is to find 10 ways Christians succeed, but it is spiritual success based on God’s will and help because, face it, we’re losers on our own.
So I’m putting this out [...]

Got to get a new image…
Thank God for the verse
II Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Howdy!

Releasing anger the right way
Writing about releasing anger seem to me as much fun as hearing the Dallas Cowboys lose to the New York Giants the other night.
ESPN radio broadcast game updates over a little portable radio carried in my newly-acquired 1995 Jeep Cherokee. It seemed penalty after penalty hurt the Cowboys’ game.
I struck the steering wheel in anger and [...]

Girls gone writing…
They want to live in America
For some reason I feel compelled to write that I miss my wife, love her and apologize for what follows.
There was a time when I felt slighted because I found out she was messing around on the Internet at dating sites. So I foolishly thought two can play at that game.
But [...]

“Holier than thou” - not when your home is a car
“Abortion Advocates Gather on Mall” read the headline that won me “The Salman Rushdie Award for Initiative in Headline Writing”
“The Shorthorn,” the campus newspaper at the University of Texas at Arlington, honored me with the award at a Christmas party.
The deadline right on top of me, I’d stood in as editor to put up a [...]

Great Writing Links
Playing off a blog on John Shore’s site, I feel compelled to list some of my favorite sites for writing advice after you first read his advice here http://johnshore.wordpress.com/2008/01/06/how-to-make-a-living-writing/ .
My list necessarily includes job sites for journalists and is heavy on journalist style and advice. That’s because I’m a journalist. Probably always will be for life [...]

Fun with time, space and resolutions
What great fun it is to be able to write something on Jan. 2 and have it post Dec. 31. I feel as though I’ve gone back in time.
I started my last blog entry on Dec. 31 but wanted to take some time to try and figure out the formatting to make it easier to [...]
